Using the Kanban view
In this article you are about to learn which are the opportunities the Kanban view offers. The Kanban view is a tool for workflow visualization that provides full transparency of work. All work items are visualized as Kanban cards, allowing each team member to move cards and see every task’s status
Here are some of them:
- Visualize different stages of a workflow by organizing the work into columns
- Download to XLSX, CSV & JSON
- Create, Edit, Remove
- Searching
- Outcomes Progress
- Subtasks
- Custom fields
Organize the work into columns
The Kanban view columns are created automatically depending on the available options of the 'Status' column/field. You can dynamically add a new column by clicking the '+ New status'. button.
Edit Columns
When you click on the column's hamburger menu, a popup with several options will be displayed.
- Edit - edits the column's name and color.
- Add new task - adds a new task to the column. After adding it, a card will be displayed in the column.
- Collapse column - collapses the column.
- Remove column - removes a column. All tasks/cards from that column will be moved to the uncategorized column.
- Hide column - hides a column.
- Show all columns - shows all columns which were previously hidden.
Edit Tasks/Cards
You can edit Kanban tasks/cards by double clicking on the task. A dialog is shown and you can edit the task fields from it. From the dialog, you can also comment out or see the history of changes related to the task.
The input editors displayed in the dialog depend on the fields added in the Grid view. For example, if you add a Priority and Progress columns in the Grid view, you will see them in the Kanban view dialog, too.
Searching
You will find a button for searching in the right upper corner of the base. After clicking on it, a field will appear. You could enter keywords, with which you could search.
The results, which have been found, will be bordered in color.
Custom Fields
With the custom fields in the Kanban view, you can visualize and track specific to your projects or tasks information. Create different types of fields (number, date, contributor, etc.) to reflect the needs of your workflows and apply them to your Kanban boards and cards. From the Grid view, you can add custom fields and these will be displayed in the Kanban view.
Subtasks
Break down complex work items into subtasks to monitor the progress of smaller activities. Create as many subtasks as you like, mark them as completed when ready. Track progress of subtasks from the task card or through the Kanban board dialog. To add a subtasks option, from the Grid view, you should add the 'Checklist' column.
Card Comments
In Artavolo, you can easily add card comments to communicate with others and share task-related information .The Card Comments tab facilitates team collaboration. The software allows you to add as many comments as you need. We display the number of comments in the respective tab and in the task card. This way, you can get a very quick idea if the task has new comments related to it. You can also edit or remove an existing comment, if you change your mind.
Card History
The card's history tab ensures transparency of all card-related events such as: task movement, changed assignee, block comments, new color, selected priority, etc. Each card has a history tab.To open it, you first need to open the card and click the History tab to see all entries. All new card events and updates are logged chronologically, including information about the author, additional event details, and timestamps.
Customize Card background
In Artavolo, you can make your Kanban cards more stylish by choosing a color that fits your personal preferences. To achieve this, from the Grid view, add the 'Color' column. Then in the Kanban view, from the dialog, you can choose a color. The color is applied to the card's left border and if the 'Color entire card surface' switch is turned on, the color is applied to the card background.
The Uncategorized column
The uncategorized column is for records where the 'Status' field has no value. It is displayed as the leftmost column by default. As with the other record task cards, if a task card is dragged from the uncategorized column onto another column, the value of the single select field will change to reflect the new column. If a categorized task card is dropped into the uncategorized task card, then the value in the single select field will be cleared. The uncategorized column, like other columns, can be collapsed, but you cannot remove it.
Moving cards between columns
You can drag and drop a task card from one column to another column. When you do so, the value of the single select field will change to reflect the new column in which the task card has been dropped. For example: if you have a Kanban view with 'To do, 'In progress' and 'Done' columns, and you drag a task card from the "In progress" column to the "Done" column, the value in the status field will change from "In progress" to "Done," accordingly. This change will be reflected when you switch to Grid view, too.
